Today I didn't go my Korean class because I couldn't have enough sleep last night. Staying at home alone with the guilt of not going to the class that I'm paying a lot for is not a nice feeling. So I had to somehow balance it by making sure I'm not wasting my time at home. So what's best than a remix?
Why did I choose this song? Just watch the video and read the subtitles. Have you ever seen anything like that in Korea before? Even the B-level cheap sexy tracks won't display such a passionate kiss. The whole song is obviously marketed to adults in contrast with a lot of k-pop that are intentionally made to fit a wider audience. Korea has been changing and what you see in this video is extremely close to the reality you see around Hongdae and Gangnam by night. There're countless "Narshas" out there waiting to eat you alive; if you can handle them that is cause (native) Korean girls are NOT a walk in the park; especially when they're drunk - which is like every second day or so.
I will go on with the audio related comments. The original was quite problematic to begin with as it has a ton of instruments playing in the background. Getting rid of those instruments was out of question as the voice would be seriously messed up. So again I had to create my own sounds in a way that nicely cover the original ones and still enhance the track. Most of my older remixes are made like that.
A first for me in this remix is the use of a dubstep-like build-up during the bridge/kissing scene. I'm not very familiar with dubstep and these are actually my first steps into dub...step. Still I believe it fits greatly the atmosphere I was trying to achieve when creating the remix.
As every other remix I've made, this is an additional step up when it comes to production matters. I'm using a lot of stereo, delay and glitch tricks around the track to make the track the most consistent, dancelike and enjoyable possible. It's not easy to do that when you have all those backgrounds sounds to mess up your remix. I was patient and spend a lot of time tweaking a lot of things including making the music video fit nicely with the remix feeling. It's been a while since I've made a remix with so much attention to detail. I hope it was worth it and you really like this remix as much as I do.
There is always a version B coming which is going to be uplifting trance. You've heard the preview at my facebook page and you voted for that. Well trance needs some clean vocals to sound good and this particular track makes my life really hard. So it will take some more time.
By the way I've recently had my hair dyed like this guy; good to see it's considered cool. I was in kind of doubt for a while lol
