When I've started this remix last year I was so excited that I'm remixing an SM boy group. This is because of two reasons: SM brings quality and I like that. My first thought was that a dubstep drop at the chorus would be great! So I've attempted exactly that but with mediocre results - as creating nice dubstep drops without altering the vocal line is almost impossible. Still I've exported the draft and matched it on the music video just to get the feel of it. That's when I realized that their dance during the chorus at the MV would never match to a half-tempo dubstep. In fact it was unlikely that it would match any kind of dubstep.
A great breakthrough came after I managed to get a good extraction of the vocals. Initially I was working with the full original song - luckily with a recent development extracting vocals from SM's songs became much easier (seen in my electric shock remix). Since then I've attempted many other styles from trance to house and even dubstep again. The intro for one of those versions came out particularly well - and it is the one used in this release.
Months have passed and it was the time to work on the remix once again. This time there was no turning back; I had to keep trying till I get a decent version out. One of my recent inspirations has been MFBTY's Sweet Dream, one of the most incredible productions I've ever heard in the kpop sphere. Thus the triple drum kicks at the end of my bar-loop at some points of this remix. Another great inspiration was my meeting with a local kpop entertainment company that are currently producing some artists at EDM levels. Their (yet to be released) songs are focused on very hard electronic music with large build-ups and drops and much less vocals than your everyday kpop. The reason they've called me is obvious - I've been doing what they're doing for almost 4 years now. Nevertheless after hearing what they have to offer I felt putting some more EDM energy into my remixes. And this can be heard around this remix, especially at the build starting around 2:45 - my favorite part of this remix.
Thank you for listening and till the next release be well :)
